Bill of Materials for a Kundan Necklace — a Worked Example
A typical bridal Kundan Rani Haar: ~45g 22kt gold (₹5,80,500 at ₹6,900/g), 18 Polki stones (~2.5ct total, ₹95,000), meenakari reverse (₹18,000), karigar hours (~120 @ ₹450/hr = ₹54,000). Total material + labour: ~₹7,47,500. Retail markup 30-45%.
What is a Bill of Materials for a jewellery piece?
A Bill of Materials (BOM) is a structured breakdown of what a piece is made of: metal weight, stone inventory, enamel work, karigar hours, and a cost estimate at the current gold rate. It's the document the atelier uses internally for pricing, and the document the karigar reads before starting work.
Worked example — Bridal Kundan Rani Haar
Let's work through a real BOM for a mid-range bridal Kundan Rani Haar (queen's necklace) — the kind of piece a Delhi or Jaipur atelier makes in the ₹8–10 lakh price band. All numbers reflect 2026 gold rates and typical karigar wages in the North Indian market.

Where the numbers come from
Gold rate
22kt gold traded at ₹6,900/g in early February 2026 for the Delhi/Jaipur bullion market. Facetra fetches this rate live every hour so your BOM never quotes stale prices. See the BOM entry in the glossary for the technical definition.
Polki pricing
Polki stones (uncut natural diamonds) trade at a premium over faceted diamonds of similar carat weight because of scarcity and the labour of foil-backing. Small polki (0.05–0.15 ct pieces used in Rani Haar) trade around ₹30,000–₹42,000 per carat depending on clarity.
Karigar wages
Skilled Jadau + Kundan karigars in Jaipur / Delhi command ₹400–₹500 per hour in 2026, with senior masters at ₹800–₹1,200. Meenakari is a separate specialist step usually outsourced to a dedicated meena karigar in Jaipur.
How Facetra auto-generates the BOM
For any render you generate on Facetra, the BOM feature reads your design (stone count, prong count, meena coverage, metal volume estimate from the multi-view) and produces this exact breakdown as CSV + JSON. The gold rate is live. The karigar hours estimate is based on a database of similar-complexity pieces. Try it at facetra.studio/signup.
