Frequently asked questions

Does the sketch need to be a clean drawing or can I upload a rough thumbnail?

Rough thumbnails work — Facetra's silhouette detection is trained on studio sketches that range from finished renders to napkin doodles. The cleaner the sketch, the more silhouette-faithful the render, but even a rough thumbnail produces usable output. For total precision, upload a reference photo of a similar piece as a second image.

Is the 3D mesh production-ready or a design reference?

It's design-reference geometry — manifold, wall-thickness-aware, symmetric — that a CAD operator retopologises in Rhino / MatrixGold before casting. Wall thicknesses default to 0.6-0.8mm for lost-wax and 1-2mm for DMLS. Any professional atelier runs a retopology pass before commercial cast, but the mesh is directly usable for 3D-printed wax samples and client-approval prototypes.
